What to expect
Setting up your first appointment:
To set up your first appointment, you can either call our office at (740) 475-0488 and leave a message with your contact information and one of our staff will get back with you, or you can simply create an account on our Client Portal. Please note that as a new client you will initially register with Dr. Bradley Hedges and then will be assigned by our staff to the appropriate provider. Regardless of how you contact us, we will gather some basic demographic information about you and why you are seeking services. This includes payment information such as who your insurance carrier is. Please note that you must provide a credit card or Health Savings Account (HSA) card to set up the client portal and to receive services through BHConsultation. Once you are established in our client portal, you will be provided with a number of documents through the portal that must be completed before we are able to establish you as a client and schedule your first appointment. In most cases, we can see you within a few days of your first contacting us. Please note that you will not be able to “self schedule” until after you have been seen for your first appointment.
Attending your first appointment:
We ask that you arrive approximately 10 minutes before your scheduled first appointment so that we can copy your ID card and your insurance card. During your intake appointment, your therapist will complete an assessment by asking a series of questions to get to know you and to help define why you are seeking services. We may also attempt to get information from your medical doctor, other providers, or others to help us understand your situation better. You may also be asked to complete some psychological testing if appropriate. Our skilled therapist will then work with you to develop a treatment plan that will guide your ongoing care and help you reach your desired outcome.
After your first appointment:
You will likely attend weekly or every other week appointments during which your therapist will provide various interventions, assign homework, and help you track your progress in treatment. Your therapist may also work with your primary care doctor or other providers if medication may help. From time-to-time, your progress in care will be reviewed and your treatment plan will be updated. Between sessions, you are expected to complete assignments and implement the strategies discussed during sessions. If appropriate, your support system (family/friends) may also be asked to join sessions on occasion. In most cases, services will last 3-9 months. You can self schedule sessions (add session, move sessions, cancel sessions) in the client portal after your first appointment.
